Skingreen took part in the Embalagem do Futuro® (Packaging of the Future®) project, an initiative focused on developing innovative products, services, and production processes capable of delivering sustainable packaging solutions throughout the entire value chain—from raw materials, design, and engineering to manufacturing, information systems, marketing, collection, and recycling.
The project resulted in the development of 19 new Products, Processes, and Services (PPS), bringing together integrated and validated solutions. Skingreen led PPS12, dedicated to the development of premium cosmetic packaging based on natural-origin materials, while incorporating fragrances and smart authentication and traceability technologies.
As part of this initiative, two high-performance sustainable packaging solutions were successfully developed. The first was a PHBV jar and matching lid with cork incorporation, designed with a refill system to promote circularity. The solution also integrated a detachable RFID tag at the base for product authentication and traceability, while the refill system was sealed with aromatic films to ensure product integrity and create a distinctive sensory experience.
The second solution consisted of a sustainable cosmetic tube, engineered to meet demanding technical, processing, and functional performance requirements while reducing its environmental impact.
The project demonstrated the technical and industrial feasibility of these innovative packaging solutions, providing a strong foundation for their future market introduction. It also reinforced the potential of combining sustainable materials with smart technologies to shape the next generation of cosmetic packaging.
